It is application time for those of you who want to study music or street dance at Åsa. From 12 December, you can apply for our popular cultural courses.
The programmes currently open for applications are Street dance Five Styles, Street dance One Style, and Music. The courses are one year long – although the Music course can be extended by an additional year – and they start in August 2026.
Clear course profiles
The application period for the dance courses runs until 1 February, so don’t delay in submitting your application. If you are interested in the Music course, we accept applications for longer, until 21 April.
The cultural courses at Åsa have a long history: the music course has been running for 37 years, and street dance for 21. Over time, they have developed clear profiles and have earned an excellent reputation both nationally and, in the case of the dance courses, internationally. We now look forward to educating and inspiring another group of dancers and musicians!
Street dance Five Styles
Street dance Five Styles is a course for those who want to gain basic knowledge and develop their skills in locking, popping, breaking, hip-hop and house.
As part of the course, you will explore and build on your knowledge by studying subjects such as dance technique, history and culture.

Street dance One Style
Street dance One Style is the perfect course for those who are eager for valuable experience and want to devote a year to immersing themselves in one dance style.
The course gives you the opportunity to study with a dynamic and highly skilled dance group, to experiment and explore street dance through freestyling.

Live like a musician
Åsa’s music course includes both individual tuition and group teaching across a wide range of areas. You will receive more teacher-led instruction than at music conservatoires.
During the academic year, you will take part in planning, carrying out and following up three tours – from creating concepts and repertoire to meeting the audience. In short: you live like a musician!

Autumn term 2026 also marks the start of the school’s general courses, our alternatives to municipal adult education (Komvux).
The General course is aimed at those who may have left upper secondary school or compulsory school and need to complete their qualifications. The next application period begins in January 2026.
