The planning for Åsadalen 2026 is in full swing. At the same time, we look back with warmth on the 2025 pilot festival – now in short-film format.

The first democracy festival at Åsa Folk High School took place over three days in May, each under slightly different premises.

The first day was aimed at the school’s course participants, staff, and the visiting local politicians who took part in the day’s activities.

The programme on day two was directed towards the course participants and staff of Åsa and Eskilstuna Folk High Schools, as well as invited politicians from the Sörmland Region.

The third day was open to the general public, with a large number of invited guests including lecturers, debaters, artists, food producers, and more.

Days two and three were documented on film and through interviews by two filmmakers, Elin Roslund and Alma Wising. Both have studied film production for two years at Gothenburg Folk High School and were commissioned to document Åsadalen in short-film format.
