Five Styles audition

Check out what it’s like to live and study street dance at Åsa. The video was made by former dance course participants.

To apply, you must attach a video according to the audition instructions provided by the school. This is the first step in the process towards securing a spot in the Street dance Five Styles course.

Below, the application process is described, from start to finish.

The application is divided into two parts.

Part 1: Online audition

Attach one video link to your application, combining all footage into a single, merged video.

Please use the same music as in the videos. Names and links are listed in the video desciptions.

For all routine videos, add 2 eights of freestyle after the routine. Additionally, add another freestyle solo video (max one minute) from studio, cypher, or battles.

Upload your video to YouTube, Vimeo, or similar webpage and attach the link in your application. Remember: attach only one link, and make sure the link is not private.

Additionally, attach a written statement answering the following questions:

  1. How will you finance your year at the school?
  2. What is your training and dance background? What is your experience in the dances taught at Åsa?
  3. Describe your weekly practice of dance and/or other physical training.
  4. Health and support needs
    Please answer the following so we can support you during the education. This information does not affect the next step of the audition.
    Note: Åsa Folk High School is not a treatment provider. We can support you and guide you to relevant help if needed.
    A. Do you have any current or previous injuries or physical conditions that may affect your training? (Examples: knee or back pain, recurring injuries, hypermobility, chronic pain, etc.)
    B. Do you have any ongoing health conditions, illnesses, or disabilities that we should be aware of in order to ensure your safety and wellbeing?
    C 1. Do you have any mental health conditions for which you currently receive support or/and treatment? (Examples: anxiety, depression, eating disorders, concentration-related conditions, self-harm history.)
    C 2. If so, please descibe what support or routines help you manage your studies and wellbeing.
    D. Are you currently in contact with any healthcare professionals (doctor, therapist, physiotherapist, nutritionist) whose guidance may be relevant for your participation here? If yes, please describe briefly. (At Åsa, there is a student support team that you can contact in case you need any advice.)
    E. Do you have any known triggers or situations that may affect your wellbeing in a dance training/boarding school environment?
  5. Is there anything you would like us to know that could help us support you during the audition and the education? (Examples: support needs, work or family situation, etc.)

Write in English, a maximum of one A4 page. Use the font Times New Roman or Arial, size 11 in black text, with 1.15 line spacing. Upload as a PDF in your full name.

Application deadline

For applicants without a Swedish personal identification number, apply below with your videos before deadline on 1 February 2026 at 6 pm CET.

From this initial audition, we will make a first selection of who will go through to the second part. You will receive an email informing you whether you have been accepted for the next stage.

Applicants needing a VISA

For those requiring a VISA, an online audition will be conducted. You are not required to attend the live audition below.
Apply with the above-stated content before the deadline. Audition and personal interviews will be conducted within two weeks from the deadline.

Part 2: Live audition

The live audition takes place at Åsa Folk High School on the 22nd–24th of April. Further information will be provided to successful candidates from the first part of the audition.

Important to know

  • International students requiring a VISA must apply for a residency permit for studies. Apply at the latest four months before the course starts. Åsa Folk High School does not accept students arriving later than two weeks from the course start.
  • For international students needing medical care in Sweden, investigate insurance support systems in your home country.
