Since 2019, Åsa’s music course has taken part in the Blue House Youth Jazz Festival and consistently excelled. To date, the course has brought home ten prestigious awards, suggesting that the success story is far from over.

The next edition of the festival will take place on 9-11 April 2027, when the Music course is expected to participate for the eighth time. (The festival was cancelled in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.)

The Blue House Youth Jazz Festival has been held since 2001 and is organised by Konserthuset Stockholm in collaboration with Swedish Jazz. For participants on Åsa’s music course, attending the festival has become a tradition and a natural part of their education.

An important meeting place
The festival is considered one of Sweden’s largest and most important meeting places for young jazz musicians, students and teachers from folk high schools, municipal schools of the arts, upper secondary arts programmes and music colleges. During the festival, more than 400 participants typically gather to take part in clinics, lectures, concerts and competitions.

The festival offers a unique opportunity for artistic development, inspiration from established musicians and valuable networking opportunities for future studies and careers in music.

Outstanding performances
In the festival’s final competitions, participants from Åsa’s music course have repeatedly demonstrated their high standard. Since 2019, jazz ensembles from the folk high school have returned to Sköldinge with awards on seven occasions.

In total, the course has received ten awards, an impressive achievement matched by very few other educational programmes.
