Here comes the Summer courses!

Christmas is just around the corner, and you can already sign up for one or more of Åsa’s popular summer courses. Take your pick from 13 exciting and enriching courses!

Registration opens on 12 December. Places are limited for each course, and applications are accepted on a first come, first served basis.

As always, summer at Åsa offers both courses for beginners and courses for those who want to deepen their knowledge in something they already enjoy and feel passionate about.

All courses are presented below and can also be found together via this link (in Swedish only).

These are our new courses:

Beer – from Grain to Bottle
Led by Rune Mårtensson from Sköldinge Ölkultur, this course teaches you the basics of one of the world’s oldest crafts: brewing beer.

During the course week, you will receive a thorough introduction to a craft that is more than 6,000 years old. We go through the entire process – from raw ingredients to finished drink – and visit both a brewery and a maltings to see how the work is carried out in practice.

You will follow every step and take part in the brewing yourself, giving you a clear understanding of both methods and materials.

Digital Storytelling
Using simple multimedia tools, you will learn how to create short films that move and engage.

You will explore dramaturgy, find your own story, create a storyboard, record voice-over and edit your film. During the week, we combine narration, images/video and music to create a genuine and personal digital story.

The course is led by Conchi Gonzalez, graphic designer, photographer and digital communicator. It also covers topics such as photography and filming, image and video editing, and what is required to record a voice-over.

Inner and Outer Sustainability
This inspiring and reflective five-day course, led by Conchi Gonzalez and Björn Dahlbäck, provides you with the knowledge and tools you need to live more sustainably.

The week begins with a shared exploration of climate and environmental issues from a societal perspective. From there, we move on to practical exercises and discussions, and conclude by developing your personal action plan.

The course combines lectures with group exercises, reflection and meditation that strengthen mindfulness and the ability to embrace change.

Fyra cowgirls dansar i Countryholmsrevyn: Linda Råsberg, Cissie Norén, Johanna Dahlberg och Lena Sirrewius.

Cultural Production
This course is for those who are considering organising a concert, theatre performance or exhibition, but lack the basic knowledge.

The Cultural Production course gives you the opportunity to lay the foundations for producing a cultural event from start to finish. During one week in July, you will learn how to:

  • plan a major production from idea to performance
  • work out a budget
  • market the event
  • work with audience engagement

Course leader Cissi Norén guides you through idea development, project descriptions, budgeting, funding, marketing (target groups, marketing plans and social media), design and audience relations.

The Craft of Writing
Develop your writing through discussions, writing exercises and lectures.

The course days include both simple, short exercises and longer ones. In between, there are discussions in small groups and with the whole class, as well as reviews and Q&A sessions with the course leader, author Axel Hellby.

The content focuses on narrative text, or prose, and methods for making a short story or novel work. Dramaturgy, plot, characters and style are some of the elements we will be working with.

Advanced courses
Other new features for summer 2026 include follow-up advanced courses to the previously much-appreciated Colour course – led by BrittMarie Järnström Lindell – and Drawing & Watercolour – led by Lasse Larsson – for those who have already completed the introductory course.

If you are interested in Theatre, you once again have the opportunity to learn more about expressing yourself on stage in a playful and creative way. As before, the course is led by Jesper and Anna Bengtsson.

Yoga and Jazz
Cecilia Stjärnborg will lead two courses under the title Yoga for Body and Mind. These courses are aimed at those who long for recovery, balance and a deeper connection with themselves.

The summer programme also includes Jazz at Åsa, a true long-running favourite now celebrating 26 years at the school! The course is for those who already master their instrument and, together with the course leaders, want to develop their playing and improvisational skills in a group.

The summer course period in 2026 runs from 29 June to 1 August. You can register up until 18 May.
