On Saturday 19 September, the autumn darkness in Eskilstuna will once again be illuminated by Kulturnatt (Culture Night). Among the almost one hundred programme events, there is one in particular not to be missed: a live music performance by participants from Åsa folk high school’s music course.
As in previous years, Eskilstuna Culture Night 2026 offers a wide range of activities and experiences for all ages.
A quick glance at the programme reveals that Åsa’s music programme is appearing alongside an impressive array of musicians, dancers, artists, writers, craftspeople and performance artists.
The concert by the Åsa musicians will take place at Rademachersmedjorna. Three bands will perform:
Atlantis
Atlantis is a six-piece ensemble from the music programme that interprets lost places and cities through music. Combining atmospheric soundscapes with evocative melodies, Atlantis brings to life what once was, from sunken civilisations to forgotten towns and landscapes.
Based in Sörmland, the band explores a variety of musical styles, including jazz, pop and rock, through original arrangements of well-known songs.
Atlantis consists of: Isabella Toro Tapia (vocals), Melvin Hansson (keyboards), Martin Ålund (guitar), Justin Björklund (bass), Arvid Granath (drums), and Elis Franzén (saxophone).
Segna
The quintet Segna portrays a ship’s voyage: setting out to sea, battling a fierce storm that tears the vessel apart, and finally making the long descent to the ocean floor. What does it feel like when the storm takes hold? Is the seabed really as bleak as one might imagine?
These questions are explored through the group’s interpretations of well-known songs, blending elements of modern jazz, pop and rock.
The group met at Åsa and consists of: Alva Schinkler Herczka (vocals), Isak Rosell (piano), Ben Berneli (bass), Zackarias Wellinder (guitar), and Mkhululi Dlodlo (drums).
Dygna
The cycle of a single day encompasses sun worship and fear of the dark, stillness and movement, late-night wandering and morning coffee. Drawing inspiration from jazz, soul and folk music, Dygna explores these contrasts through original arrangements of well-known songs.
Through its music, the audience is invited to experience all facets of the many moments that make up a day.
Dygna consists of: Alva Lindvall (vocals), Joar Liljeblad (saxophone), Arvid Rudbeck (piano), Adrian Kleback (guitar), Linnéa Rudolph (bass), and Egil Dahlstedt (drums).
Recurring event
The concert begins at 5.30 pm. As with all of Saturday’s programme events, admission is free.
Culture Night is an annual event shaped by everyone who takes part. The event is coordinated by Eskilstuna municipality in collaboration with several partners, including Åsa’s sister school, Eskilstuna folk high school, and Scenkonst Sörmland.
