From September 1, applications open for several of Åsa’s courses. Start the new year with studies at a folk high school – either on campus or online.

You can apply until 24 November for one of our general courses starting on the 7th of January.

General courses are the folk high school’s alternative to adult education provided by the municipality. They are aimed at those who may have left upper secondary school early or who do not have full qualifications from compulsory school.

Three general courses
General courses are compulsory at all folk high schools that receive government funding. At Åsa, three courses are currently open for applications:

• General course – for those lacking complete qualifications from upper secondary or compulsory school. Read more about the course and apply here!
• General course – distance learning – for those who need a full upper secondary qualification and prefer to study online. More information and the application link can be found here!
• General course – Swedish as a second language – designed for those whose first language is not Swedish and who need compulsory school qualifications. Information and application can be found here!

After New Year, our popular online course Writing a book – from start to finish also begins. It is a part-time (50%) course for those who wish to develop as writers over the course of a year.

The goal is that by the end of the course you will have written – and perhaps even published?! – a complete book.

What participants say about the writing course
The course is led by Axel Hellby, who, alongside teaching, writes fiction, educational materials and children’s literature. His series about small-town policeman Frank Murke has given him a strong foothold as a suspense author.
